Citizen Schools partners with public middle
schools in low income communities in eight
states to give students access to hands-on
and engaging academic and leadership
practice that promotes robust college access,
strengthens students' academic skills, and
partners students with experts in a variety of
fields. We expand students' learning
experiences with a program that develops
collaboration, critical thinking, and a host of
other key skills in the three hours following
the traditional school day. Apprenticeships,
an instrumental part of our program, are
semester-long hands-on learning projects
led by those experts that explore topics and
work that drive their professions.
Apprenticeship topics have ranged from the
dynamics of the legal profession to social
change through political activism.
